Tree of Life Supports Women's Health
The Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life Campaign has raised critical funds for women’s health initiatives in Pictou County.
The Tree of Life Campaign is national in scope, but funds raised at the Pictou County stores are directed locally. The campaign offers patients, customers and employees the opportunity to donate directly at the check out.
In Pictou County more than $2,700 was raised during the 2013 autumn campaign, and donated to the Aberdeen Health Foundation. These funds will improve access to services and programming that support women’s whole health in body, mind and spirit in Pictou County.
“I would like to say a very big thank you to Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life Campaign in providing the Women’s and Children’s Unit at Pictou County Health Authority an Antenatal Chair,” says Debbie MacDonald, Nurse Manage for Women & Children’s Unit. “We are in desperate need to replace both chairs in the clinic, which serves women in the Well Clinic prior to delivery. Thanks to this generous donation we can offer more comfort and security to moms, and make it easier to monitor and assess them.”
Wade Taylor, Chair, of the Aberdeen Health Foundation said, “Shoppers Drug Mart’s ability enhance the awareness of our Women & Children’s unit and the programs and services being offered will be two fold, their generous gift today of over $2,700 along with the information they share with the community; what a wonderful way to give back to the community.”
“These results are incredible and a true testament to the generosity of our community and Shoppers Drug Mart staff,” said Susan Malcolm of Aberdeen Health Foundation. “Shoppers Drug Mart has supported the Foundation many times, they are truly dedicated to enhancing health care in our community.”
“The success of the 2013 Tree of Life campaign can be attributed to the support and commitment of our loyal customers and staff,” said Ron Matlock. “Shoppers Drug Mart has partnered with women’s health organizations at national, regional and local levels, in order to provide direct support, ensuring that essential funding, resources and education are available to meet the needs of Canadian women. We are pleased to present this year’s Tree of Life campaign proceeds to The Aberdeen Health Foundation.”
