Funding Announced to Foster Good Population Health

The Aberdeen Health Foundation has announced $50,000 in funding that will support community-based projects that maintain, protect, and improve the health of the people of Pictou County. The deadline to apply for this funding is April 23.
Aberdeen Health Foundation Director and Chair of the Population Health Committee, Dr. Aaron Smith, provided details about the funding. “Population health is an approach that aims to improve the health of the entire population and to reduce health inequities among population groups. With this funding, the Foundation will play a more direct role in promoting and protecting health and preventing disease so that the people of Pictou County can live healthier lives.”
Organizations are encouraged to apply with projects that are working to change the social and physical environments in which people live, learn, work, play, and age, and that are attempting to address root causes such as the social determinants of health.
There is no maximum allowable funding request, but it is anticipated that this amount will be shared among several projects.
Funding is open to registered charities, sports organizations, municipal organizations, and other qualified donees.
