New Bassinets for Babies Arrive
Thanks to Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life Campaign
With the combined efforts of Shoppers Drug Mart, its employees and customers, we now have two new bassinets for the Women & Children’s Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital. Shoppers Drug Mart’s Tree of Life fundraising campaign in the fall of 2014 raised more than $4,400 for Aberdeen Health Foundation.
Debbie MacDonald, Nurse Manager for Women & Children’s Unit said, “I would like to say a very big thank you to Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life Campaign in providing the Women’s and Children’s Unit with new bassinets. Each bassinet costs approximately $2,000, and meets strict health protection guidelines. Infants will receive safe reliable support during their stay at the hospital.”
Susan Malcolm, of the Aberdeen Health Foundation said, “In addition to this generous gift today, Shoppers Drug Mart’s support serves to enhance awareness of our Women & Children’s unit and its services, meaning their contribution has twice the impact. What a wonderful way to give back and make a difference for the littlest and newest members of our community.”
“These results are incredible and a true testament to the generosity of our community and Shoppers Drug Mart staff,” added Malcolm. “Shoppers Drug Mart has supported the Foundation many times; they are truly dedicated to enhancing health care in our community.”
“The success of the 2014 Tree of Life campaign can be attributed to the support and commitment of our loyal customers and staff,” said Ron Matlock. “Shoppers Drug Mart has partnered with women’s health organizations at national, regional and local levels in order to provide direct support, ensuring that essential funding, resources and education are available to meet the needs of Canadian women. We are pleased to present this year’s Tree of Life campaign proceeds to The Aberdeen Health Foundation.”
