Molly's Rainbows Raising Funds for Hospital
Coming up this Saturday, September 17, is Molly’s Rainbows – a carnival of fun and games for families. A portion of proceeds from the event will go to the purchase of a Bubble Tube for the Aberdeen Hospital’s new Emergency Room. Bubble Tubes are therapeutic, positively reinforcing and calming for children.
The hospital’s rehabilitative department already has a Bubble Tube, thanks to funds raised from Molly’s Rainbows last year. When the organizer, Jodi MacIvor, dropped in to see the Bubble Tube in action she was overwhelmed by its impact on the department’s young patients.
“The goal of Molly’s Rainbows is to make children smile. Aside from the carnival, it was the best feeling to be able to witness Gabby’s reaction to the colourful fish and bubbles and to see her joy,” says Jodi MacIvor. She made the decision on the spot where a portion of the proceeds from this year’s event would go.
The event takes place at North Nova Educational Centre from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. There will be games, prizes, BBQ, bingo, bouncy house, giant inflatable slide, face painting, cotton candy and more. Everything is free with donations accepted for the IWK and Aberdeen Health Foundation at the door.
