Susan Martin has worked at the Aberdeen Hospital for nearly 20 years. In 2004, she was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Though she had seen how staff would rally to support one another, she had never before been on the receiving end.

“I felt so supported. I received so many cards and staff on every floor of the hospital gave to the collection for me. It helped me and my family out so much,” says Susan.
Later, when Susan wanted to further her training so that she could work as a Pharmacy Technician, she was able to access funding from the Aberdeen Health Foundation Education Fund. It provided the opportunity for higher paid work.
“I am so thankful for all that I have received. I wanted to do something more meaningful than sending a card. I thought that a donation to the Foundation would be a way to help others as I have been helped and to truly support my co-workers.”
Susan has been donating to the Aberdeen Health Foundation since 2008 and has been a monthly donor since 2012, where her gift is directed to the Area of Greatest Need.
“For me, my donation is a very meaningful way of saying thank you.”
Monthly donations to the Aberdeen Health Foundation can be arranged through the donation page on our website or by calling (902) 752-7600 x. 4600.
