Pat Lord Award
Funded through the Aberdeen Health Foundation’s Children’s Aid Society of Pictou County Endowment Fund
The Pat Lord Post-Secondary Education Award for Pictou County Adoptees was created in 2009 to recognize the work of Pat Lord, an Adoption Worker who retired after 39 years of service with the Children’s Aid Society of Pictou County.
When the long-time private agency was integrated into the Department of Community Services in 2010, funds from donations and bequests to the Children’s Aid Society of Pictou County were transferred to the Aberdeen Health Foundation to create an endowment fund. The Pat Lord Award is funded through this endowment and awarded based on the recommendation of a Selection Committee.
The award is granted based on the applicant’s demonstrated involvement in their school and community rather than their academic success.
Amount of the Award:
Each year, one student will receive this award in the amount $2,000.
Who May Apply:
The award is available to youth who were either in the care of the Children’s Aid Society of Pictou County and placed for adoption within Nova Scotia OR have been in the care of another child protection agency within Nova Scotia and placed for adoption with a family in Pictou County.
Application Deadline:
Applications must be received by May 30, 2025.
