Board Member Profile – Heather MacDonald
Meet Heather MacDonald, Secretary on the Aberdeen Health Foundation Board of Directors. Heather was born and raised in Newfoundland, where she attended university before completing her law degree in Fredericton, New Brunswick. In 2003, she made her way to Nova Scotia to embark on her career and eventually to Pictou County. Today, she is a corporate commercial lawyer, a proud mom to two very busy daughters, and a growing family that includes a dog, two cats, and brand-new pet bunny.
It was through mutual connections that Heather was introduced to the Aberdeen Health Foundation, and joined the Board in 2014. As time has passed, Heather’s interest and commitment has only strengthened as participation in the Foundation has awoken her passion for connecting to the community. “The more I learned, the more interested I became! The extent of the reach and involvement of the Foundation in health care in Pictou County, and the potential impact the Foundation can have, has really surprised me. That is why I’m still involved today, eight years later.”
Heather believes what makes Pictou County special is the dedicated and caring individuals who live here and contribute wherever they are needed. “In giving my time, my hope is to do my little bit to give back to a community I have grown to love. We have so many diverse and wonderful perspectives on the Board – hopefully my two cents can contribute to the collective good that we can do in Pictou County.”
