McHappy Day Helping Women and Children in Pictou County
Today the Aberdeen Health Foundation received a cheque from McDonald’s McHappy Day for the Women & Children’s Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital.
The proceeds from this one-day event, held annually on May 7, raised $4,925 this year. Combined with funds from previous years, more than $25,000 has now been raised in our community through McHappy Day to enhance care for women and children at the Aberdeen Hospital.
This year the support will help to fund a Bariatric Prenatal Chair for use in the Antenatal Clinic. The chair is specially designed to greatly improve the comfort of pregnant moms while being monitored. This funding will also provide PURPLE Program information videos to new parents and caregivers. The PURPLE program helps caregivers to better understand normal infant crying and the triggers of infant crying that can lead to frustration. The PURPLE program was created to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome.
Each year the more than 1,400 McDonald’s restaurants across the country celebrate McHappy Day, the company’s longest-running and best-known national fundraising event.
