Please join us in welcoming new Board Member, Kimberly Byrne. Kim grew up in Peterborough, Ontario and went to Trent and Queen’s University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education. With teaching experience in Guatemala and Ontario, Kim moved to Nova Scotia 29 years ago to join her husband in Chance Harbour, where they have raised their three children. She went on to complete her Master of Education degree and her Chartered Professional designation in Human Resources. She is currently the Senior Director of Human Resources – Talent and Organizational Development with VON Canada, continuing her commitment to both health care and education.
When asked what motivated her to join the Board, Kim cites her commitment to community health and individual wellness, as proven through her long history of volunteerism. This includes over 20 years spent as chair of the Board of Directors of Kids First Family Resource Centres in Pictou, Antigonish and Guysborough Counties, and past chair and current member of the Board of Directors of Highland Community Residential Services (HCRS). As a former Treasurer of the Children’s Aid Society of Pictou County, she was also instrumental in working to support the transfer of endowment funds from that organization when it closed to the Aberdeen Health Foundation to ensure the work of supporting healthy outcomes for children in Pictou County would continue.
